Curve House Longlisted: Don't Move, Improve! Streatham

New London Architecture has longlisted Curve House for Don't Move, Improve!, the annual programme recognising London's strongest domestic-scale projects under this year's theme, Reimagine the Home. Curve House is a contemporary kitchen extension to a family home within the Sunnyhill Road Conservation Area in Streatham, in the London Borough of Lambeth.

The judges praised the project's curved geometry, drawn from an arch over the original front door, and how the curves were carefully set out from standard straight building materials, keeping the build economical and accessible to a small contractor. The longlisted scheme secured planning consent on a smaller footprint than a prior refused application by another architect, which freed budget for higher quality finishes throughout.
